What has the Three JIve Junkers grinning from EAR to EAR?!?

Well, aside from our 6 blog followers and 157 Facebook Fans, (TRULY, THIS MAKES US EXTREMELY HAPPY!) we are also in the process of renovating the shed in Christina's backyard... very soon, we will be working in the comforts of AIR CONDITIONING! As you know, the heat here in Texas has been relentless! Painfully RELENTLESS! The a/c will definitely allow us to get more work done in less time. And at the perfect time! We have sold 5 pieces of furniture this week, and have received 6 customers request us to custom painted their pieces! Our JIve Junking dreams are coming true! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We sincerely appreciate our customers and their interest in our work!

We are currently on day 3 of our renovation. Day 1 was spent cleaning out the shed and finding a new home for all the contents. This was the biggest/HOTTEST part of the project...because at that point, no A/C! However, the Mr's (our husbands) had the A/C kicking before we all went home that night!  Day 2: Cleaning and removing all the old shelves, and wiring in A LOT of electrical sockets and lights! Day 3: Christina and I (ALL BY OURSELVES) insulated the shop! Seriously! Add insulation experts to our resumes!  I am so extremely proud! Who knew we had it in us!?! Next we sanded the floors, going to stain them, and now Shane (Christina's awesome husband) is putting up the walls!!! We are sitting, waiting, sitting, waiting,... HOPING we get to paint the new walls tonight!! I've got to get back to sitting and waiting! Check back tomorrow for pictures of the remodel process!!

While the day started out pretty slow (only 2 garage sales) Christina and I scored big at our last stop, Affordable Treasures. It was our first time in the resale shop and I must say we were beyond excited! WALL-TO-WALL JUNK! So much junk we are going back tomorrow as I am certain we missed half of the store!

Treasures we found today....

This desk is AWESOME!!! Heavy, solid wood, hand-carved and beautiful! Not to mention, the drawers roll out! This is huge in my opinion. Nine years in an older home and you start to appreciate the simple things... like drawers that are easy to pull out :) I had to take these pictures with my phone so they do not do this piece justice. This desk can sit up against the wall or in the middle of the room. The detailed carving is on all 4 sides!

Check out this beautiful antique Victorian, all wood, side table. Not a scratch on it! I love the spindle legs!!! I believe this table will look great anywhere in your home!

And my personal favorite.... An all wood, spanish style mirror! Loved it so much, we bought 2! One for me and one for a super lucky JIve customer! This mirror is the door off an old armoire! I seriously can't wait to get started on this piece!

Do you have any treasures you would like to share with us? We would love to see them!!

Don't forget to check us out on Facebook and read about our very first giveaway!!

This buffet is probably one of my favorites. It was a piece of work when I started....probably would have fallen over if someone blew too hard in it's general direction. With a half of bottle of Gorilla Glue and a couple of rounds of Jamie Johnson, John Conlee, and yes Michael Jackson cd's....the piece turned out perfect....and not with Rose Colored Glasses on. I started with a base white and covered the piece with antiquing glaze. The top was a Ebony MinWax stain....way too dark. I took the dark stained top and covered with turpentine to reduce the dark color on the wood....this brought out more of the natural wood and brown tones. I then covered the piece with MinWax rub on hickory stain to bring out the brown tones in the facing and sides. Clear coat of Poly to finish off the piece. Call, Text, or Email me 817-939-4043. Thanks C

                                                                          -  $250 -

My grandmother had this same bed for years.   Perfect garage sale find, cute cottage farm style full bed set with night stand.  Found this little treasure for $15 bucks at a garage sale.  Took this piece down to the natural wood, brush painted with a dusty miller paint using a rag to whip away the extra paint. Sanded edegs for the antique look.   Once dry covered the piece in a Provincial MinWax Stain.  Great piece for a farm style look or boys room.  Asking price for the Full Bed Set $ 250.

                                                                          - $350 -
Love this Piece!  Solid Solid Oak two draw chest with wood details on all sides.  It was a labor of love for the entire team.  This piece started out with four layers of paint....final color was lime green....UGH! Took almost Three weeks to get this piece down to the natural wood...but we did it.  I brush painted with a dusty miller paint lightly over the wood carvings and flat areas.  Making sure the leave just enough wood to allow the stain to soak through the paint and into the natural wood for the antiqued look.    Once dry covered the piece in a Provincial MinWax Stain making sure the leave excess stain on the wook carvings for a darker finish.   Great piece for entry way or accent piece.  Asking price $350.

                                 - $50-
Barn Finish Red and Black End Table. Old rustic finish classic style with accent wood on the top and doors. Perfect piece of furniture for your decorating project. Comes with a glass top. Asking $50
